6/6/09

So, today I headed out for the combine demolition derby in Lind, Wa. Thought I'd take a leisurely trip across the country and enjoy the sights. This was the route I took today. There was construction on 24 in Illinois... Slow going... Stuck in it for about an hour. The GPS unit notified me of the slow traffic AFTER I finished going through it. Hooray for technology.

Random picture from the road: Proof that I was in St Louis Shiny!Hotel rooms are scarce in St. Louis. Had to go to 4 different places to find a place to stay. Searched online and picked a Holiday Inn. Called them up and the lady says they're now a Motel 6. Changed last winter she says. I booked the room with trepidation, but it's clean and not too overpriced. Also, it seems to be the favorite place to stay for all the vendors at the St Louis Renaissance FAIRE - Bonus!

Random Thoughts
  • Go through Nashville I thought. Nice Drive... Nobody told me there was a NASCAR Nationwide race... Not bad tho... Those folks know how to move thru traffic
  • I was surprised to see how much farmland is in Illinois. Livestock not prevalent tho.
  • I saw four (4) dead deer on the side of road thru Illinois. This was very strange.
  • What? I did NOT see a single horse thru Kentucky.
  • Listening to I, Robot by Isaac Asimov and Be Honest, You're No That Into Him Either by Ian Kerner (I think somebody snuck some estrogen in my food)
  • Livestock Update: Left 78 +2 deer, Right 395 +2 deer.
That's it for now... Stay tuned...
