6/8/09

So today I decide to head west thru Utah before going north. Here's today's Route, which took me thru Dixie National forest before ending up in Cedar City, Utah – home off the Southern Utah University (Go Thunderbirds!) After spending some time in Colorado, I am convinced that this is the land of the Subaru. They're everywhere.
Heading west on I70 from Denver is a fun drive while going thru the Rockies. Lots of twisting and turning to keep you on your toes. And yes, Rick is right. The ride would be much more fun on a motorcycle. Here are some pics o'de Rockies. It's difficult to capture the grandeur, but I did the best I could while mobile and with a pocket cam. Yep, that's snow... This is in Utah from I70. These are from Hwy 24 in Utah heading south.

The endless road.
The endless road takes a right turn...
Capitol Reef National Park Dinner was consumed here... I mean, how can a tourist pass this up? (All you can eat Tacos on Mondays) I think Best Western is trying to copy the Starbucks MO. There are 4, count them FOUR, in 1.5 blocks.
Finally saw a couple of LIVE deer feeding on the side of the road.
The following animals were seen today: Llamas, goats, deer, bison, horses, cows, donkeys.

Random thoughts:
  • I'm going to have to buy a new GPS unit in a few months – Dang it!
  • Listening to: I am Legend and other Vampire Stories by Richard Matheson and Running Blind by Lee Child
  • Livestock count: Didn't do an actual count, but most of the livestock was on the right. The left saw a couple of horses and some Angus.
That's all for now... Stay tuned...
