5/02/10 – Sunday – Protaras and the return.
Remember to click on the images. They're thumbnails.
So, today, I needed to get some exercise. Saw this outside, and decided it should be climbed.
Took a right out of the apartment complex and headed up the path.
On the way there, I see this. Click on the picture and you'll see immature carob pods.
This is what they look like after they ripen in the summer. I collected a few on the way back.
Views from the top
After breakfast, we headed out for some more sightseeing. This is Famagusta (ghost city) from afar. Best picture I could get.
We then visited another church (God is - or was - really big here)... This one is st George's (again) in Paralimni.
After the sightseeing, we packed up.
Started heading back towards Larnaca. On the way, we stopped at the hidden caves near another old church. Here are some spectacular views.
View inside the cave... These are personages whose origin is unknown to me.
After the caves, we stopped for lunch at some restaurant off the beach. These are pictures from there and nearby walking distance.
After lunch mom and I headed over to Pervolia to see more family. Spent the afternoon catching up and telling jokes. We'll be going back to Pervolia later in the week for the afternoon.
After that, we headed back home, for some rest.
Unbeknown to us, while we driving back, Omoinia (mostly in Greek but lots of info on wikipedia) won the football championship. Personally, I was a fan from waaaaaay back. Haven't kept up with them for years, but it was good to see them win. Interesting fact... Whenever a team wins a championship here, the fans climb in their cars, drive around with their hazard lights on and blow their horns. For hours. Really. It was after 1:00am before we could get any sleep...
That's all for now... Stay tuned...
