5/14/10 - Friday - Kolossi - Lemesos Take two

So, today I decided to go see the old castle at Kolossi near Lemesos (Limassol), and hang with cousin Petros for a bit (These are all different links - check them out). Originally built in the 1200's it still stands proudly representing Frankish and British occupations of the time. Read up on the links. It's pretty interesting.
Review of the castle.
Still more info.
It appears that the Knights Templar had something to do with it as well. I'm wondering if it'll show up in Dan Brown's next book...

View from above - remains of a church
Lusignan escutcheon
Better view of the church - it was windy
Massive tree looking down from the top
Massive tree, looking up - with "underwire" supports
To the left... the dungeon.
I think this is where they did interrogations :) Nice space though. Very peaceful.

This one is for the puppet.

After crawling around in ruins for a few hours, I had some crunchy coffee (I told you it was windy) and headed down to Lemesos. I was a little early and stopped by a barber for a haircut before heading to Petros' house. We went down to the beachfront walk, hung out, saw the sights and picked up his sister in law for dinner. Back to his house for fried chicken (tasty), fried potatoes, salad, etc. A couple of his friends came by, (Robert and Mary). We talked, told jokes and lies. Overall, a nice evening.

Around 11:00, I headed back to the house for R&R and to get ready for the memorial services on Sunday.

That's all for now... Stay tuned...
